Just to clarify: The regular version of SkyCharts will NOT take advantage of the full screen resolution on the iPad.
To run in native resolution and see the maps in full glory, you need SkyChartsPro.

There will now be an iPad version (SkyChartsPro) and the normal iPhone version (SkyCharts).
SkyChartsPro will get all the new functionality first, and eventually that functionality may make it into the SkyCharts version as well.
(remember all these devices have different cpu’s and gpu’s so I will only enable something by default it it works on all devices)
So if you got some problems with non cached maps the last half hour or so now you know why.
‘Old’ server was coming close to both disk & bandwidth limits so time to increase the quotas.
Faster downloads, ROUTES, and automatic sequencing of way-points in routes.
For routes, just enter for example: KUAO RAWER UBG WINLO KOLM 110KTS 9.6GPH
Finally got a crash-report (but I still can’t reproduce how it happens exactly!) but seems like after accepting a call the ‘direct’ route is never saved to disk so it crashes on start-up when reading a NIL field when its trying to restore the Direct.
v1.5.10 is hopefully the last of the 1.5 series, 1.6 will have new functionality, hopefully I can release it an a couple of weeks after beta testing ?
For the other 1.5 releases, check the roadmap.
Looks great on the large display!
SkyCharts is now fully functional in the simulator, lets hope the devices start shipping soon.
If you’re wondering: I’ll make sure SkyCharts runs on the iPad.
Stay tuned.
Another fast release from Apple – wow, they must have improved something in their release flow ??
In any case, v1.5.6 adds a new power setting – enable it for the old behavior where display doesn’t blank in battery mode (turning off display greatly reduces power usage).
The memory footprint has also been reduced, getting a memory warning should be very infrequent.
To reiterate: PLEASE let me know if you have problems. But you can’t just say ‘it doesn’t work’, please be specific.
Also, due to the large database it requires a lot of memory, and that’s something the 3G does not have. If you have any issues, please reboot the phone, then delete and re-install to make sure the app starts in a good place.

Wow, SUPER fast approval from Apple, only 2 days!!
In any case, enjoy the new IFR low enroute & TAC charts
You can now also select Track up or North up on the fly.
FYI: If you prefer North up and don’t care about Track up, please select North up in the settings for SkyCharts since it will run faster in North up.
Now with track up/north. When in track north the airplane changes direction instead of rotating the entire chart.
