FAA updates for the 1202 chart release

BIG CHANGES IN ALASKA EFFECTIVE ON THE FEBRUARY 9, 2012 CHARTING CYCLE

In November and December we put this message in the Chart Agent e-News Letter as an extra message and reminder of the major chart changes that impact Alaska due to the movement of the Anchorage VOR.  Please help us get the word out to aviators on the chart changes… Safety first!

Effective on 2-9-2012, the Anchorage (ANC) VOR/DME will be shut down.  The Anchorage (TED) VOR/DME will be in use. The VOR was relocated roughly 5 miles onto the Anchorage International Airport property.  Therefore, it is vital to have all of the new charts in the Anchorage region to ensure the most current fix locations, procedures, and frequencies are used.  This includes TPP, IFR Hi’s and Low’s, and Sectionals.

Please note: the Supplement Alaska will also have all new Anchorage VFR flow patterns effective for the February 9th edition.  Be sure to check it out and help us spread the word!

Cycle 1201 released

Now with more data: The descriptions for the VFR,IFR and TPP (or IAP) charts are now also included.
All of these are really big though. The app will try to load them if you haven’t cached them, make sure you have a fast internet. An upcoming app update will check for these large files (like for the NOTAM).
Future chart releases can be found here.
Enjoy.

1113 has been released

FAA never released SC_HOTSPOT.PDF in time, I’ll update the release data once it becomes available.

If you fly from KSEA you now also have this included.
Enjoy. If you have any problems please let me know.

Update 10am dec 15: SC_HOTSPOT.PDF is now included. If you cached before this time you got SC1HOTSPOT.PDF instead.

Cycle 1112 released

More info!

However, if you can, hold off updating until v2.9.3 is released, it has the iOS5.0.1 fix that avoids the iOS deleting files willy nilly. Apple has been taking their sweet time releasing the update though, so if you want to make SURE you have all data on your device, please update the app first, THEN download cycle 1112. If you get the v2.9.3 application update after you already downloaded cycle 1112, please download again to make sure the iOS will not delete any relevant files.

Changes: This time with the SUA (Special Use Airspace) info, which you already have in the red dots, but its now also included directly from FAA, I figured it doesn’t hurt to have. You also get the Published NOTAMs, as well as the VFR chart bulletin (chart changes).

For the High Enroute charts you now also get the NARC and WATR charts.
Enjoy!
The next charts cycles are listed here.

Alaska A/FD front page updated

If you cached AK_West, AK_East, US_NW or US_NE last night (Oct19/Oct20) and you want to update the file, please un-select the region, tap Start and the checkmark disappears. Then re-select the region again and tap Start to re-cache it again.
If you’re caching data as of 7.45 AM PDT or later you’re automatically getting the right data.

Cycle 1111 released

Attention Alaska users, Aeronav has not released the updated ‘al_front_20OCT2011.pdf’ file yet so when you update/cache you get the previous version.

You can recache the data once the file has been released, please check the webpage.

Future release dates are posted here.

Cycle 1110 released

Next cycle, 1111 will most likely be available right when it will expire, as Aeronav now want to charge for early access:
“Effective October 20 2011: Next Editions will be available 24 hours prior to their effective dates.”

You can look up future chart cycles here.
